The Meaning of Life

I'm back! ;-) I have such a wonderful wife! It was very sweet of her to get the newsletter out for me. I really wanted to get it done and last week was very full. Moreover, I am humble by her comments. I am blessed.

I learned an interesting lesson a couple of weeks ago. It was about the meaning of life (no, it is not 42).

Typically, when a body is buried at the end of a life in this plane, there are two dates written on the headstone. The birth date and the death date. Between those two dates there is a "-", a dash.

If a person has lived their life only to serve self, then the only meaning we can assign to that person's life is "-", and it is so declared on the headstone. There are no memories to recall, no writings of good works or legacies of charities. Just, "-".

When you live a life to serve others something magical happens.
Other lives, having been touched by yours, are indelibly etched with your signature. Your good works make a continual and on going difference in the world through each and every person you touch. You make memories. Stories are told. And what you give, you get back.
